Looking around at the responses to Katrina, I saw something very interesting.
The website of the Democratic Party has no less than thirteen links on its front page dealing with the Katrina disaster and aftermath. Of those, one is the top link on the page, three and a half are links through which visitors can help, by donating, volunteering, whatever (the "half" is because the "Katrina Aftermath" link goes to a page which has a "How You Can Help" sidebar), and two are links to state emergency numbers and resources for victims.
The Libertarian Party's website has four Katrina links; one is both the top link on the page and an appeal for help from site visitors.
In contrast, the website for the
Republican Party has a grand total of ONE Katrina link--a small banner for donations to the Red Cross on the side of the page.
(I'm not counting Laura Bush's denunciation of Kanye West as a Katrina link. Because, you know, we don't want to "play the blame game.")
In all fairness, it's in good company; other party sites with just one Katrina link belong to the American Communist Party and the LaRouchians (though both have it as the top link on the page).
Fact is, there are only two well-known political party websites seemingly less concerned then that of the Grand Oldsters with the plight of those impacted by Katrina, showing no Katrina items whatsoever: Surprisingly, one of them is the Greens, while the other is ... well, the American Nazi Party.
