Gotta tell you what a great forum you've created, KOS. Okay, enough blowing smoke......
No. "They" don't think Bush can walk on water. They may not even think he can walk straight. I know these people. I grew up with the white hetero male, however dumb or useless, as God, and the women who endure them while snacking. Try Chattanooga in the 1940's for understanding the present.
"Their" greatest fear is to BE PROVEN WRONG: When it comes to this country their family, their children, their lives. They weren't taught to think for themselves and develop a true sense of morality but to obey Mommy and Poppy without hesitation.
Every moment was a power struggle until it isn't anymore. So there's always that nagging suspicion that they're doing something bad and going to get caught.
"They" don't necessarily like Bush. Or each other. Or anybody. They all seem to have had Barbara Bush for a mother so they are comfortable only with defensiveness, arrogance, stubbornness and bullying. They feel safe knowing Bush won't ambush them with a sudden fit of intelligent, doubting introspection.
Forget reasoning with this crowd. As we've seen, facts are merely potholes in their way. Discussion and questioning are signs of weakness and disloyalty. Orders and ultimatims were good enough for Mommy and Poppy.
THE ANSWER? Crushing, brutal intimidation and unblinking threats. No mercy and no doubt. Not exactly the modus operandi of Democrats. Find a way to take away their money. Expose them to their constituents as corrupt and ineffectual. Show the "Hammer" as a wet noodle. As with all bullies, there's no real courage beneath the noise and bravado. Think of a dog pen full of pitbulls. "Sit" won't do. But firing off a shotgun or using an electric cattle prod might.
Or better yet, watch a film called "Blade Runner." The Right Wingnuts are the Replicants in the movie: humanlike robots with no feelings or consciences with pre-programmed lifespans. If the Replicants fail to cease operating at their prescribed times, Harrison Ford has to hunt them down and "retire" them.
