I hate to say it but one of the most important decisions regarding the Katrina clean up and political spin and ramification occured when FEMA got it's hands on the lions share of the 62.3 Billion handed out so far.
This is why it's dangerous politically....very simply you don't bite the hand that feeds you. While Bob Johnson's Diary is spot on I believe the reason why Nagin may be taking a soft tone with Bush is because his city's future depends on this administration.
THIS IS KEY, you don't bite the hand that feeds you, I don't blame Nagin for taking this line and I can understand why he taking it. He knows that 3 years from now he'll still need money and the media may be far away by then and it is likely (unfortunately) that Bush will be in power.
What can we do?
I argued against piling on Mike Brown the other day...I thought we should go for bigger fish.
Now I think that we should be asking why Mike Brown is in charge of over 50 billion dollars worth of Tax payers money.
We should be calling for a bi-partisan commission to hand out the cash....unfortunately the bill passed didn't have anything like that in it.
Why does Mike Brown get trusted to give out over 50+ Billion in cheques...and there is going to be other bills with more money....I hope Dems get this point very soon.
