After two weeks of rage, depression, and downright YUCK, it's time to start laughing (and planning our escape). Not only that, but writing new song lyrics to classic rock sure beats trying to work when you're in a bad mood. And not only THAT by my wife says, "If you don't send that in to dKos,
I will." (This usually means if I don't I end up sleeping on the couch).
It started with a message from her this afternoon with, "Here...Photoshop This," a copy of Nixon's resignation letter. (We're a modern couple. We don't talk, we just send email back and forth). When I was done, this was the result:
When I had finished, I was feeling much better and found myself humming...and humming...and humming...
More humming around the bend::
WOULDN'T IT BE NICE
The Beach Boys
Wouldn't it be nice if Bush was leavin'
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long.
To dump the GOP's administration.
Everything has gone so goddamn wrong.
You know it's gonna make it that much nicer,
If we had no Condalizza Rice, sir
Wouldn't it be nice!
Wouldn't it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
Knowing Cheney wasn't at the White House
Looking for some other folks to screw.
Oh, the happy times we would be spending
Our ugly national nightmare ending
Wouldn't it be nice!
(Bridge)
Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray the time would come
Maybe if we send him pretzels he would try to eat and talk and choke on one.
The world would be safer
And then we'd be happy.
Wouldn't it be nice if he was finished
And we had our country back on track.
Intelligent Design would be forgotten
With the Christian Right now off our back.
I really think the time has come to tell you
All those morons need to go to hell. You...
...Know it would be nice.
You know it seems the more we talk about it
It makes me want to stand up here and shout it
So let's stand and shout it.
Wouldn't it be nice?

Ah...wouldn't it be nice?
"Step by step the longest march can be won, can be won.
Many stones can form an arch. Singly none. Singly none.
And by union what we will, can be accomplished still.
Drops of water turn a mill. Singly none. Singly none."
