I just finished this excellent book about the aftermath of our invasion of Iraq and the move to occupation. The author is an Arab-American who lets the Iraqis speak for themselves. Not appointed political leaders, but ordinary families facing uncertainty. A great antidote for the corporate media reporting from inside the Green Zone.
Truthout has a long review with a lot of quotes at

If you don't have time for the book (available through your local library, so no excuses), read the review which would make a nice article in itself.
