The Republicans ran on the isssue of eliminating homosexual marriage in the 2004 elections and swept the House and the Senate and the Presidency (with the aid of screwed up ballot boxes, courtesy of Diebold). I have been searching/lurking/analyzing political websites on all sides such as
National Review,
The Washington Times, this blogsite,
Democrats.com, et. al. in order to receive commentary for the 2006 elections. And, I wonder, like everyone else, what should be the Democrats' key issues in order to win back Congress in 2006?
How will the party encourage our home district residents to get out to vote for the agenda? How can the party distinguish themselves from the Republicans, since our party is seen as weak in the House and the Senate? Which stance should the party take in order to win back voters? What do you think? Since this site is a democracy, everyone's opinions count. Recommend this diary if you wish.
Side Note: However, in order to make our voices heard in 2006, the election system needs to reformed as soon as possible. In 2000, the Democratic Party should have taken the initiative to legislate an extended voter's rights bill, so that NO voter will be intimidated, threatened, etc. at the polls. Why wait until the election year in order to cry foul about ballot boxes? Why doesn't the Democratic Party take the initiative now than later? You can even contact your legislator in order to ask him or her to take action on this particular subject via this nifty website entitled "Congress.org".
