Today, the Iraqi people are voting in their first free Parliamentary elections. Perhaps freedom IS spreading in the Middle East.
Let me clear something up here first, I pretty much hate Bush. I loathe his domestic and foreign policies. I think he has deceived the American people into believing that the Republican party is the only choice for national security and moral values. But, I raise my cup to the brave people of Iraq who are voting for their first official parliament. Imagine being a part of the rebirth of newly free democratic society. We are obviously all deeply interested in politics. Imagine being a part of the electorate that voted in our first Congressional elections. The first Iraqis to choose their leaders, democratically, are a much more diverse bunch than the first Americans who chose our own nation's federal leadership. Cheers and good luck to the brave Iraqis who vote today, in the face of violence most of us Americans have never had the misfortune to personally experience.
