    •  But (none / 0)

But it's hosted on imageshack currently, so I think it's ok. If it is removed I already saved a local copy, in case.
      •  just checked geocities (none / 0)

The three images of "dave rayboen" which were once posted are no longer available. (I just checked)

I'm trying to catch up - what's the source with respect to dave rayboen being an alias for Jeff Gannon?  Granted ~ they do look very much alike.

        •  Wow, what a coincidence (none / 0)

stuff on the web vanishing just as we are looking for it.  Who would want to hide this stuff?  I wonder if this may have been what the infamous Larisa was talking about when she urged that this investigation go 'under the radar'.

Her concerns that this may be a 'honey pot' to hurt the credibility of this blog (as if the credibility of some 40,000 internet users could be decreased by getting some details wrong!), seem overwrought, and based on an unfounded overestimation of the 'credibility' of a huge collective.

OTOH the concerns about important evidence being scrubbed, and misleading new info posted to support the 'legend' of Jeff G. seem very well founded indeed. The fact that some of his stuff is being changed now is, to paranoid types like myself, pretty good evidence that there is actually someone who cares about hiding this stuff, and they have sufficient bandwidth to monitor dkos. That's pretty scary in an 'at least it confirms my paranoia' kind of way.

          •  If you think that's scary (none / 1)

Imagine how much worse it would be if this stuff started disappearing after only a couple of people discussed it in private.  At least when it disappears after being discussed here in the open, several people have records of it.

Of course someone cares about keeping this stuff under wraps -- they wouldn't be hiding it in the first place if they weren't.  It is obvious by now that there's a front-row fake reporter using a pseudonym in the White House.  The people who set that up obviously have something to hide or they wouldn't be hiding it.  The question is who, and how deep does it go?

My burning question is, is Jeff Gannon an amateur hack with rich ideological bedfellows, or is he on the government payroll and a covert operative?

Just because there's someone out to get you doesn't make you paranoid.

    •  Plame III -- picture of Gannon Alias (none / 0)

Marking this diary as CategoryPlame will help organization by use of the dKos search tool.

After I mark the main diaries, I think I'll try to set up a few assignment categories on the dKosopedia page and make the current assignment threads.

      •  Not that that is bad (none / 0)

I support the right even of right-wing fake reporters to engage in wild, santorum-splashing homoerotic shenanigans.  Nor would I be judgemental  about the big bag of rock (= crack cocaine) on his bed. I am disturbed that this cocksucker is probably getting taxpayer dollars to hole up in a motel with his obviously drug-addled top, and then representing the good 'ol US of A to poor impressionable Russians.  The fact that they are grinningly representing their genital dimensions with their fingers to the (presumably male) prostitute/minister who took the photo says everything about the quality of the rock they've been hitting.
      •  I hate to admit it (none / 0)

But that was my first reaction to the picture of "Jeff" on his "conservative guy" website.  Maybe David Brock can talk some sense into him.
  •  other than the bald head (none / 0)

Dave doesn't look like Jeff to me. Dave's chin juts out more, and the mouth and eye/eyebrows look different.

  •  Rayboen pics (none / 1)

Dave worked for an insurance/loan company called ASI.  He is in smallish halloween party pictures here and here and, from a restaurant review in 1999, he is age 29.

What is the best proof that this is our guy, besides a resemblance?

  •  IMHO (none / 0)

Dave looks a little too hirsute to be Jeff.
  •  While googling (none / 1)

I noticed that when I entered his name, Dave or David Rayboen, there would be a reference to a Joyce Rayboen/Norris/Steinberg. Which led to references to an Agape association(we all know about Agape Press). Several phone numbers associated with the refs (410-420-8595)leads to a William/Bill Groseclose of 1933 Castle Rd, Forest Hill, MD 21050. All of the names associated with Rayboen are involved in some evangelical ultra conservative religious order.
It seems to me if this is the guy, Karl Rove's outreach to evangelicals went way further and proved much more successful than he thought.
  •  eberle, delay and ashcroft (none / 1)

Bruce Eberle runs Eberle Communications Group, Inc., which is involved in tom delay's fundraising scandal.

ECG, Inc. also owns Fund Raising Strategies, Inc. and seems to prefer the name Eberle & Associates.  part of the business is PR, part is fund raising.

Eberle also owns Omega List Company and Eberle and Omega were busted for
illegally giving data lists to Ashcroft when he was a senator.  while you're at the omega site, be sure to check out Blanquita Cullum's prattling.  this "email endorsement" stuff sounds kinda fishy and propagandistic to me.

i'm thinking a client list of ol' brucie's could be interesting.

Maybe, maybe not. But that's the way they're cited in this Google cached issue of the Clare Booth Luce Policy Institute newsletter.
