I've been collecting these for a little while now. I think it's time to share. First, from
a TV station in Central Florida:
The Local 6 Problem Solvers teamed up with a Central Florida mom to shop the aisles of five major supermarkets to come up with the best prices...
Super Wal-Mart landed in the middle of the list with a total bill of $53.61.
Albertson's total was $52.20 right behind Super Target where Smith paid $43.60 for the grocery list.
Super Target's total was more than $14 less than the list at Winn Dixie, Local 6 News reported.
From
Consumer Reports:
When it comes to small appliances, Wal-Mart touts low prices, but survey results show, overall, it's no less expensive than other stores.
"Readers also said good help was hard to find at Wal-Mart, and selection--pretty limited,"...
This one's my favorite. It's from the Motley Fool via MSNBC [Asda is Wal-Mart's British subsidiary]:
A recent ruling by Britain's Advertising Standards Authority has held that an Asda marketing campaign misleads consumers by asserting that it is "officially Britain's lowest-priced supermarket." While Asda cited survey results from trade industry magazine Grocer in support of its claim, the authority faulted Grocer's survey results for relying on too small a sample in pricing goods. A survey published by Goldman Sachs(NYSE: GS) backs up the authority's finding and argues that Tesco is actually the country's cheapest grocer.
Now Wal-Mart's plea to the British government to investigate Tesco for its large market share makes sense! Hypocrites.
