Anyone remember that summer of 2001, where Bush sat in his Crawford ranch, and informed us that there would be seven lines of stem cells? Which has turned out to be pitifully non-existent in its benefits to scientists from the lack of abundance in stem cells. Think about it this way...
Alzheimer's is a horrible disease, and stem cell research can help alleviate the horrible effects of Alzeheimer's as well as many other horrible diseases that no American should have to suffer from. Nancy Reagan supports stem cell research, and hopefully she'll push it forward as an agenda that the entire nation needs to adopt.
Think of it, stem cells can be grown into stem cells for the ear. That can help cure my deafness, but due to the right-wing religious fanatics in the Bush administration, stem cell research is verboten.
Now, to think of it....if Bush had agreed on free access to stem cell research in August of 2001, there might have been treatments for Alzheimer's patients like Ronald Reagan, and spinal defect cures for people like Christopher Reeve. However, Bush said no, so therefore, Reagan died of a horrible disease that he could find no reprieve from.
Thanks, Bush!
