Have you no shame sir? You wrote in a posting earlier today:
The same principle holds with respect to issues other than judicial nominations. My colleague from Illinois, Dick Durbin, spoke out forcefully - and voted against - the Iraqi invasion. He isn't somehow transformed into a "war supporter" - as I've heard some anti-war activists suggest - just because he hasn't called for an immediate withdrawal of American troops. He may be simply trying to figure out, as I am, how to ensure that U.S. troop withdrawals occur in such a way that we avoid all-out Iraqi civil war, chaos in the Middle East, and much more costly and deadly interventions down the road.
How dare you come here and try to chastise those of us who are directly affected by your action or inaction - get off your ass and start solving problems...or get a new job.
If you're not actively working to end the war in Iraq, you are for it - period.
My husband and I are army veterans who brought our children up to believe that they have a duty to serve in the military or peace corps or an NGO because of their privileged upbringing. Our oldest son enlisted in the Army in 2003, shortly before the war in Iraq began - he did this because of the values that we instilled in him.
We feel betrayed by our nation's leadership, including the so-called leadership of the Democratic Party. In the end, we could not bring ourselves to vote for Kerry and Edwards because they failed to fight for our son. We voted libertarian, and will not vote for anyone that we believe has not taken an active role in ending the war in Iraq and demanding accountability.
Perhaps all members of Congress should should be required to send their own children to Iraq, immediately, regardless of age...even the young kids like your own could move there and attend school. Having your own children dodge bullets, mortars, rockets, granades, IEDs, and even rocks thrown by angry Iraqi children might give all of you a sense of urgency, since self-interest seems to be the only thing that motivates politicians.
