Clark is in favor of seeing what the photos and such are. He mentioned "the captain in the 82nd" coming forward. He vehemently notes that HIS Army does NOT abuse and torture prisoners and follows the Geneva convention.
O'Reilly doesn't want them released and tried to twist history into "this always happens" but Clark called him on it. Wouldn't let him get away with that "excuse."
If we did NOT treat prisoners badly, we would have nothing to fear from the release of photos and video.
As has been noted by any number of people here and elsewhere, the abuse of prisoners is NOT something that the US should EVER condone. This Administration - to its everlasting shame- has sought legal justification for NOT following the Geneva Accords on treatment of prisoners and our soldiers are sufferring the consequences.
If we HAD treated prisoners WELL and with civility, FOLLOWED the Geneva Accords, we wouldn't have had the beheadings and more. THIS ADMINISTRATION created this problem and - in the opinion of many - IS guilty of war crimes in its treatment of prisoners.
So far, the blame has been pushed to the lowest levels....NO accountability for those in command.
And O'Reilly is back to the "it's a few" excuse, ignoring the legal groundwork set for this to happen.
WE should be appalled as a nation, as members of the human race. This violates ALL we claim to stand for. And worse, in the long run it doesn't work and it only creates MORE enemies, truly DRIVEN enemies. We are idiots.
Someone should screen the Battle of Algiers for Bush.
AND what is wrong with McCain? - you think he would take a stronger stance on this.
