Interesting article in
The Orlando Sentinel, filed at 10 p.m. Friday night by reporter Anthony Colarossi:
A Polk County man who operates a pornographic Web site that also displays disturbing images of Iraqi and Afghan war dead sent in by U.S. troops has been arrested on 300 obscenity-related charges.
Polk County law enforcement arrested Chris Wilson of Lakeland and he's being held on $151,000 bond.
They charged him with one count of wholesale distribution of obscene material and 300 misdemeanor counts related to 20 online films and 80 photographs obtained from his Web site, according to the Sentinel article.
And they laid it on thick:
For each film and photograph there are three counts -- distribution of obscene material, offering to distribute obscene material and possession of obscene material with intent to distribute.
The (Tribune Co.) Sentinel doesn't list the web URL, but this sounds like the subject of about 15 diaries here about two weeks ago.
Late entry: Here's a
link to a better Lakeland Ledger story with an interesting tidbit:
All of the charges relate to digital images showing sexual pornography. None of the charges stem from the photos of war dead.
I'm sure I read how the Army investigated and concluded there was no proof the war images had been sent by soldiers. Anyone else recall?
