There are many things about the culture of my "homeland" that frustrate me. One of them is the dominance of sound bytes as a mode of political communication and analysis. But even as I curse and defile this culture of sound bytes, like everyone else, I'm often struck by the resonant ones. A good sound byte can produce a cascade of images running through my brain.
Today's PDB release and its accompanying language of "Connecting the Dots" is no exception. Here's what my visual brainstorming produced:
Everytime I read that phrase the image of the White House wallpapered in hundreds of "connect the dots" puzzles (numbered 1-100 of course) fills my brain.
Maybe its the pinot grigio I'm drinking, but I can't help enjoying the thought of the White House Mail Room being inundated with an avalanche of connect the dots pictures, a la the courtroom scene in "Miracle on 34th Street".
What do you think, is this an action-in-waiting or just too much wine on a Saturday night?
