Per NBC-WSJ poll, repeat conservative WSJ poll, Bush now at 39%, with only 28% of voters saying that the country is going in right direction. Wow!
So, with that in mind, let's play the analogy game. Let's look at Ohio Governor Bob Taft's approval rating before and after the indictments started flying in his Coingate/ taxpayer-rape scandal and extrapolate the testy, nervous Bush's approval rating before and after HIS cronies' indictments come down.
Taft before:
Taft was at around 47% in 2004, before the Ohio Republican Party cronyism and money laundering scandals broke:
In September 2004, he [Taft] was absent while President Bush campaigned in Ohio. He was on a trade mission to Japan while Bush held a rally in Springfield.
At that time, Taft's approval rating was thought to be a liability at 47 percent.
Of course, now Taft is at an almost unprecedented low (only 3 presidents ever lower, lowest ever for Ohio guv) of
15%. Yikes!
Taft after:
Gov. Bob Taft's already-feeble approval rating among Ohioans has fallen to 15 percent, a new poll indicates.
The poll, conducted by The Columbus Dispatch, finds support for Taft lower than the three most unpopularU.S. presidents in the history of polling and possibly the lowest of any Ohio governor.
Now, Bush, twitching and practically breaking down in public over the impending indictments of most of his top administration officials, faces a similar fate.
Bush polling by conservative polling group before indictment at 39%:
The poll shows that Bush's approval rating stands at 39 percent, a new low for the president. In the last NBC/Wall Street Journal survey, which was released in mid-September, 40 percent approved of Bush's job performance while 55 percent disapproved. In addition, just 28 percent believe the country is headed in the right direction, another all-time low in Bush's presidency.
And after:
My guess: Based on Bush losing a lot of neo-con (MUST read) AND religious base support (Miers)... but keeping the radical, super-wingnut wing.... around 12%.
Guesses anyone? Can he beat the 3 lowest presidents ever? He is definitely the stupidest, hands down.
