I am still wondering who that woman was in Bush's last conference with the press that asked him about bird flu?  It certainly seemed staged and Bush had a actual answer and he actually stated that "He read a book about it".  My BULL SHIT DETECTOR was going by that point in time! He actually mentioned exact dates, title and author. That was certainly beyond the part of his brain that still seems functional!

We certainly should have addressed this potential problem a long time ago thru our Dept. of Health and planning immunizations and doing more research!   Did any of the journalists know this woman?  Is she another White House ringer like Jeff Gannon?  I was freaked when Bush responded by talking about a military quarantine of the area. Is that the secret "Blackwater guys " that descended on New Orleans loaded up with weapons?  This would not be a normal response to solving a possible medical crisis, in my idea of a scientific and innovative America, anyway!  This is another example of the sick Bushco Company ruining our country that our ancestors and children have fought to protect. ( My son is in Afghanistan right now and finding that his mission is not welcome there either!)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Does anyone know who that woman was with the press?  No one seemed to know on MSNBC while I watched it! I do not like our country being set up with false journalists or propaganda, for that matter!
  •  There was a diary about this (none)
    The older diary is here.

The reporter is Elisabeth Bumiller of the NY Times. She sucks, but she's nobody new.

Bush didn't actually say the name of the book. Here's what he said.

I tried to get a better handle on what the decision-making process would be by reading Mr. Barry's book on the influenza outbreak in 1918. I would recommend it.

What he went on to say was truly frightening, however.

  •  Just as i suspected (none)
More of the fright engineering. My sister-in-law is very concerned about "bird flu" -- she lives in Kansas. (I was going to make a smart-ass remark, but then the Kansas part is all that really needs be said.)
    •  Kansas is susceptible just like anywhere else (none)
In fact, in the John Barry flu book being discussed here, he mentions that one of the areas where the 1918 pandemic began very early on is in a small town in Kansas called Haskell. So there may be more to be concerned about than you think...
  •  He stated author and date, 1918.! (none)
I bet he never has opened the book though!  Isn't this scary to have such a dysfunctional man running our nation, with his not reading books, newspapers or polls?   It is sad that I knew he was lying with his body language and habits about having read the book!  If nothing else he had better start looking at polls!
  •  Please see (none)
    my diary from yesterday:http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/10/13/23128/408
and thanks for your today- I missed that.
    •  This is a new strain though! (none)
This new strain of flu should have tons of our reseachers working on it!  Bushcos' Star War Weaponry needs to be taken out of our budget and that money should go to health, environment and science!  I never voted for a Star War defense system!  Who allowed Bushco to spend most of our money on this crap?  If we would behave ourselves and not attack other countries, we could begin to gain our respect back by being able to actually help other countries and act like our forefathers planned!
  •  How to make a bird flu tincture.... (none)
Soak in vodka the following herbs for several weeks:

    • Echinacea
    • Astagalus
    • Cat's claw
    • St. John's Wort
    • Olive leaves
    • Licorice
    • Ginger
    • Lemon balm
    • Garlic
    • Stiitake mushrooms
    • Onion
    • Green tea

Take with Vitamin C and Zinc.

  •  Can I just drink the Vodka! (none)
With children in Medical School, a Junior in college, and one in Afghanistan that I constantly send supplies,  I really can't afford all of the other ingredients!  I am really being honest with that!  Our middle-class is gone!
