What's more, if the Iraqi exiles who are aiding in the planning have their way, former Hussein-regime members
will get their old jobs back.
[Iraqi Interior Minister Nouri] Badran and fellow Iraqi exile Ayad Alawi hope to recruit former Hussein officials for the service, an approach opposed by some Pentagon officials and Ahmed Chalabi, head of the Iraqi National Congress, the Post said.
Wonder how long that opposition will last. The Pentagon has already authorized tactics straight out of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Couple that with the about-face the Bush Administration has pulled regarding Iraqi elections, and one begins to see a pattern: our leaders will oppose anything until such time as that which it opposes becomes more politically expedient for the maintainance of "everything's okay in Iraq". Since we've already gone towards using assassination squads, how much longer before the chickenhawks decide it's okay to have a secret police force in Iraq? Let the disappearances, secret executions, and terror recommence!
