I initially thought the Dems were making a big mistake in not speaking out more once "Terri's Law 2" was passed. But if these polls are any indication, they were on to something. I can't recall a time where the Repubs have gotten busted in the chops harder.
But we can't sit on our hands forever. Somewhere down the line we have to pull out the 16-inch guns while we still have the moral high ground and public opinion on our side. My personal take is that we should wait out of respect for Terri, then maybe 10-15 days after she dies, let the elephants have it.
In the meantime, we should persue rearguard moves--like demanding license reviews of those quacks on the Schindler side. Especially on Capitol Hill.
And speaking as a Christian Dem, this is as good an opportunity as ever for us to step in the void and persuade people that the religious right has sold them a bill of goods. The only reason the religious right has pulled it off for so long is because they've scared pro-life Dems into voting their way. And now, for the second time in a decade, the religious right has overplayed its hand.
