I'm trying to get some writing help on how to frame Free Internet to fellow progressives. By Free Internet I mean creating a government works project or having a private company contracted out, to create a nationwide high speed Free Internet service using Wi-Max or a similar technology.
Nobody knows what democrats stand for we need to give them clear concrete ideas, such as Free Internet. Republicans are for More Work, More War, and More Debt... Democrats are for Free Internet, Free Lifelong Education, and Free Healthcare that should the campaign slogan.
This is the information age and I consider universal access to information the cornerstone of the progressive movement.
The problem is I don't know where to begin or who I should be trying to address this to. I think there are a million good reasons to do it but finding the best ones and then finding out who to take them to is the problem.
I think that if the general public knew this was a viable option it would have overwhelming support from all people regardless of their economic status. But all politicians want to talk about is abortion and gay marriage nothing that's actually going to help society or lower the cost of living.
I don't think anyone can argue against this (Free Internet) being a good idea, and to do so would be political suicide.
So what I really want to know is; what would be the best way to go about getting this (Free Internet) on the table?
I don't mind harassing politicians, but what should I have written up and how do you write something like that?
I've heard people say I have to have a feasibility study done, but how do I have one of those done?
Reasons for Free Internet:
Lowering the cost of living, not only internet bills
but cell phone and cable bills as well.
Gives everyone an equal voice, right now the poorest
of us are not being heard because they don't have
access to computers or online. The poor have to be
heard for the progressive movement to have any real
movement at all.
Fixing the education system, a comprehensive free
online education system available to people of all ages
needs to be developed.
Stimulating the economy, by the sheer number of
customers that will be introduced to online shopping.
Allows people to live farther out, makes working from
home a more viable option, for families and businesses.
Allows farmers to monitor their crops, mothers to
monitor their children, and police could monitor
criminals the list goes on and on.
The only decent excuse I get for not doing it is that it would be the downfall of the telecommunications industry. Big business will make their money don't worry about them, whether its beanie babies, ringtones, or people souls they will make their money.
And just imagine how big Kos would be if everyone had access,
