Although I have absolutely no idea what's going on behind the scenes in Plamegate today, that doesn't stop me from speculating!
And what am I speculating about? The following: Is Rove going all out, putting everything on the line, to keep himself from getting indicted? Is he trying to persuade the Special Counsel's Office that although he may have spread the leak, he wasn't the source -- Cheney's office was?
And I'm further speculating that Fitzgerald wants Rove to finger Cheney personally, since Fitz has likely gathered circumstantial evidence that Cheney personally ordered the leak, but doesn't yet have a first hand witness.
So, the ultimate question(s): will Rove escape indictment by rolling over on Cheney, and if so, is that a good thing?
I'll ask the question a different way. Which would you prefer: Dick Cheney is indicted and Karl Rove is not; or Karl Rove is indicted and Dick Cheney is not. And why?
Ah what the hell, I'll put up a poll.
