Coleman Earns Plumbers and Pipefitters Endorsement
Mayor Appears on National Talk Radio Show Aired from Union Hall
Friday
Mayor Michael Coleman's tested leadership and positive working
relationship with organized labor helped earn him the
endorsement from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 189 in his
race to become the next governor of Ohio.
"We feel that the State of Ohio is desperately in need of the
leadership skills that you have displayed in keeping Columbus
growing over the past six years as our Mayor during the most
difficult economic times this country and our state has ever
experienced," said Fred Scolieri, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local
189 business manager.
Coleman will bring his proven record of success in growing the
job base to the governor's office. His work to incorporate labor
leadership into the key decision-making efforts of Central Ohio
has help make the community stronger.
"I am honored to have this endorsement. Whether it is enacting a
living-wage ordinance or one of the nation's strongest
responsible contracting laws, I am proud of my record of
standing with the working men and women of Columbus to make our
community the best place to live, work and raise a family,"
Coleman said. "I look forward to being the champion of working
men and women in the Statehouse."
Coleman also praised the Plumbers and Pipefitters for taking an
active role in growing public awareness of government policies.
Local 189 is hosting a sold out live airing of The Ed Schultz
Radio Show from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Union Hall, 1250 Kinnear
Road.
The Ed Shultz Show is aired in the Columbus area on Progressive
Talk Radio 1230 AM. Newsweek reported that the Ed Shultz Show is
the fastest growing talk radio show since Rush Limbaugh appeared
on the syndicated talk radio scene. Coleman will be one of the
guests on the show, appearing sometime after 5 p.m.
