I just received a really odd telephone call from the Kerry Campaign asking me for a $100 contribution.
Very politely, I explained that I am unsure whether I will support Sen. Kerry because of his affirmative votes for the war, NCLB, Patriot Act, etc.
The caller very sarcastically asked me if I was voting for George W. Bush. When I indicated that I was not a Bush supporter and am, in fact, a life-long Democrat who simply has concerns about Sen. Kerry's record. The caller shot back "Well this conversation is over" and proceeded to hang up on me.
I've done fundraising for a living and have raised on the order of $10M annually for philanthropic causes. Cold-calling for money just sucks no matter how compelling the reason but this is beyond the pale.
Granted its one staffer but the tone of previous emails and robo-calls I have received are not inspiring a lot of confidence that Kerry's team is at all concerned with grassroot Dems.
Damn, I miss Dean.
