at least they would only be annoying.
One thing that puts a czech on my sympathy to part of the Muslim world, is seeing their leaders demagoging, with crowds of male supporters shoving their fists in the air, in unison. Or watching their face-concealed soldiers.
When the Riverdance craze was on, a dear friend & I found it the endless source of jokes. It bugged the shit outta me that there was a form of dance where arm movement was inhibited. At worst it conjured up begging to go to the bathroom in some Catholic school context. But in considering what freedom means, the arms trump the legs. The legs can walk, but the arms do things.
And the face is what identifies us most in the world, as individuals.

When I watch the Hezbollah leader in Lebanon preach to a throng of receptive drones, I am frankly disgusted. This is, after all, a world, where a woman's voice is rarely heard, and her face concealed long before any militia member became a part of facelessness.

I have always despised conformity. From the forced pep-rallies in high school I had to endure, to hearing about employees of Japanese firms in their heyday, all participating in daily exercise sessions to enforce company solidarity--I hate that shit!
