Hey there, ladies and gentleman. I haven't been posting much lately because I've been busy making some decisions and taking some action.
As some of you know, my GF and I are expecting our first child. She relocated to San Francisco for her job while I was trying to find a job. So far, I've had a promising interview with Marin County, but we decided it will be better for me to be there for her and the child, and I will probably have an easier time finding a job in the Bay Area, if I am already there.
So, here I am, a lifelong Detroit area resident, with parents strongly opposed to this decision, about to make the plunge on February 11. I'm leaving my family and friends behind to make my life with a new family and a new life. I know there are challenges ahead but there are new opportunities. Sorry to say to my fellow Michigan kossacks, Detroit is dying, and to stay here, would be like clinging to a dying corpse.
The politics will also change for me. I will be moving from a deep purple state to a fairly blue state with a safe Senate seat, a possible future Speaker of the House and a wounded Republican governor. I will also be moving to a much more diverse place than Detroit, certainly a warmer place (though not today).
Well, wish me luck guys. To my fellow Detroiters, I bid you goodbye for now. To my fellow Bay Area kossacks (and that includes you, kos), I look forward to working with you to make San Francisco a better city and throw Ahnold out of Sacramento. Anyone with ideas, suggestions, or ideas are more than welcome to write me at randymi30@hotmail.com. I'm California dreamin!
