This should come as no surprise to most of us here at KOS, or to anyone who is even remotely aware of this Administration's lack of concern for protecting America, but this was just printed in the 10/31/05 edition of the Chicago Sun Times, probably on about page 196:
WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration has missed dozens of deadlines set by Congress after the Sept. 11 attacks for developing ways to protect airplanes, ships and railways from terrorists.
A plan to defend ships and ports from attack is six months overdue. Rules to protect air cargo from infiltration by terrorists are two months late. A study on the cost of giving anti-terrorism training to federal law enforcement officers who fly commercially was supposed to be done more than three years ago.
"The incompetence that we recently saw with FEMA's leadership appears to exist throughout the Homeland Security Department," said Mississippi Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, top Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee. "Our nation is still vulnerable." |
It never ceases to amaze me how many Americans continue to stumble around blindly following this idiotic loser like a herd of blind sheep, completely unaware of just how
insecure our country is because of his complete ineptness and lackadaisical attitude towards anything other than filling the coffers of the already wealthy. How ironic is it, that Bush's main claim to "greatness" is his tough attitude towards "those terrorists who threaten America." He presents himself as a staunch defender of the people, and yet this proves - yet again - that he is actually doing the
exact opposite.
5 years ago this would have been a front-page story, or at least a page 2. Today, this is barely considered newsworthy by the corporate media whores, despite the fact that it involves the prevention of another 9/11-style terrorist attack on our soil, and the prevention of American deaths.
Does anyone give a rat's ass that this administration literally is doing nothing to improve our security, and thumbing its nose at the deadlines imposed upon it by the Congress of the United States of America??
