A war crime was it? Well really. I'm shocked.
Does anyone in their right mind have any doubt that the bombing, invasion and conquest of Iraq was anything other than a long series of war crimes, beginning before the official war and continuing throughout the occupation?
Starting an unprovoked war was a war crime.
Shock and awe was a war crime.
Using depleted uranium shells was a war crime.
Deliberately targeting the country's infrastructure was a war crime.
Failing to provide security was a war crime.
Restructuring and selling bits of the economy was a war crime.
Incarcerating civilians without charge was a war crime.
Torturing prisoners was a war crime.
Blockading a town, obstructing aid convoys and stopping male civilians from leaving were war crimes.
Moving through that town, block by block, with artillery and air support, killing anything that moved, was a war crime.
Not metaphorically, but actually.
In the larger story of a war that, according to our best estimates, has killed upward of 100,000 civilians, it doesn't matter a damn whether our troops used incendiaries and white phosphorus.
It will only matter to me if it helps to nail the inhuman sons of bitches that started it.
