Ladies and gentleman, the Republican Congress is in deep shit.
Political Wire dug out an overlooked
number that should have Team Delay sweating.
An overlooked finding in the new WSJ/NBC poll: For the first time since 1994, a majority of voters would like to see their individual member of Congress defeated for re-election.
Q. In the 2006 election for US Congress, do you feel that your representative deserves to be reelected, or do you think it is time to give a new person a chance?
Deserves to be reelected: 37%
Give new person a chance: 51%
If you look at the table, you'll see that the "new person" number has climbed 17% from last year. Of course some Democrats could be vulnerable as well, and there is no breakdown for region or party affiliation. The election is a year away and anything can happen, but the rose is clearly off the bloom and Republicans will now have to work for it.
