In an article yesterday, Lowell Feld wrote
this on RaisingKaine, the blog for the PAC of the same name:
Warner is getting pounded on by some readers at ultra-liberal DailyKos for his comments on Iraq. Most likely, that's good news for Mark Warner's potential candidacy. Remember that the people bashing Warner are generally in the (far) left wing of the Democratic Party, and that these are the same people who also criticize Hillary Clinton, Wesley Clark, and basically ANY Democrat who doesn't say "pull all the troops out right now, regardless of the consequences."
Feld is attempting to marginalize people who object to a Warner candidacy. In his words, we're not just liberal, we're
ultra-liberal, and we're not just in the left wing, we're in the
far left wing. This is a clear rhetorical attempt to depict opponents of the war as being out of the mainstream.
But the misinformation continues, when he implies by association that we're not only opposed to Warner, but to Clinton and Clark as well. In fact, Wesley Clark consistently comes in first in the DailyKos 2008 straw poll, and HRC comes in third or fourth. Of note is the fact that in the latest poll, Warner placed immediately behind "No Freakin' Clue".
It's shameful and disappointing that not one week after the Virginia elections are over, Feld has chosen to alienate a group who by and large supported Tim Kaine (kos's "cowardice" story notwithstanding).
