I was at work today and made the mistake of leaving my cube without locking my computer screen. Normally, one would not be concerned about this since most people work with mature people. I do not. A wingnut co-worker of mine ran across my cube and made some changes as a joke. The first part was to leave my browser set to ratemypoo.com (I am not going to provide a link as it will just make you vomit). He then set my homepage to rushlimbaugh.com (again, no link because of the vomit problem). When I saw the fat windbag's homepage though, something caught my eye...
The Oxycontin addict is extending active duty military a special offer - he is willing to match those active duty members who desire membership to his hate site with current subscribers to his hate site who are willing to fork over the cash for a reduced cost subscription, a bargin at only 49.99 (!). I am considering taking up the pimply assed draft dodger on his offer, but several ethical considerations popped into my mind -
- I would be abusing the good will of a person who is willing to fork over 50 bucks so a needy enlisted guy can drink in the wisdom that is Rushbo. Instead, that enlisted guy will be using that membership for his own nefarious purposes (I.E. passing on info from the pay section of Rush's website to you guys).
- If that fat bastard were just giving it away instead of making current members pay the reduced price of just 49.99 (!), I would jump on it in a heart beat. But, this way, the fat ass is still making money while appearing to be altruistic. I couldn't bear the thought of me being responsible for money, no matter how much, going to the illegal Oxy-Contin trade.
On the other hand, I think seeing whats on the other side of the pay wall at his website and reporting on it would be interesting to some. And what is taking money from immoral assholes that would support him anyway? I have taken advantage of offers like this before, most notably Salon's offer of free memberships to active duty. This cant be very bad, right? Help! Give me advice! I'm going to take a shower...
