Kerry and Edwards are ducking the issue. Here's what one of them needs to say:
"Today, President Bush has chosen a path that runs counter to our nation's most cherished values of freedom and justice."
"The facts are clear: President Bush promised the right wing of his party that he would support this effort to codify discrimination in the Constitution long before San Francisco's decision to uphold the state Constitution."
"The truth is, this is a ploy to appease the right wing of his party and change the subject from his dismal record on job-creation and foreign policy."
Well, at least one politican did have the guts to say it.
Gavin Newsom for president.
