This is slightly covered in
Cedwyn's diary on Iran and 9/11, but I believe is important enough to be focused on alone. At the moment on Drudge is a scary headline "Iran months away from a nuke". What is particularly scary about this is that it's not so long ago that Iran's leader threatened to destroy Israel and
Former Israeli prime minister Benyamin Netanyahu has threated to attack Iran if he is become Prime Minister again.
So when, according to Drudge and the Jerusalem post, the IAEA chairman Muhammad ElBaradei confirms that Iran is "months" away from having a nuke ... well, hold on to your hats guys, it's going to get messy.
But is that what ElBaradei said?
Reading the Jerusalem post article, we find that the quote comes from an interview ElBaradei did with The Independent, a United Kingdom media outlet. And indeed you see
the article does indeed say what Drudge and co report -
Mr ElBaradei believes that once the facility is up and running, the Iranians could be "a few months" away from a nuclear weapon.
But they conveniently leaves out the immediately proceeding sentence -
Although IAEA officials have said it would take at least two years for Natanz to become fully operational, Mr ElBaradei believes that once the facility is up and running, the Iranians could be "a few months" away from a nuclear weapon.
In other words, according to the IAEA, Iran is at least two years and several months away from a nuclear weapon, and that only if they have started the Natanz plant, which has not happened.
When the MSM starts with the ticker tape "Iran Crisis" you know another lie has become truth. Where will it end?
