Over at Wesley Clark's blog, there's a conversation going on about whether there should be a PAC for scientists.

The proposal is concerned with preserving scientific integrity in the policy process. I think this is a worthy goal, but I also think a PAC should support pro-science candidates for school boards and other local offices also.
I'm so happy to see this discussion is happening. As a scientist, I've been looking for something like this. It's very distressing to see our scientific advantage rapidly slipping away because of the terrible policies of this administration. I think we need to focus on local politicians also, because we can see the real consequences of these policies.
I think this would be an opportunity for scientists and non-scientists alike to help affect the national debate. What do you think?
