[membership or Site Pass required] reports on an article in The Big Gay Picture
about the case of Laurel Hester, a NJPD officer who is dying of cancer, and whose pension benefits have been denied to her long term partner.
As Broadsheet noted earlier this week, the five Scrooges on the Ocean County Board of Freeholders are denying Hester's pension to her partner, Stacie Andree. So Andree will soon lose her partner and the couple's house.
Part of the article referenced notes that Hester's favorite novel is To Kill a Mocking Bird, and makes the following suggestion:
The freeholders next meet on Jan. 7th. Wouldn't it be something if, after Christmas, they were to return to their desks to find dozens of copies To Kill A Mockingbird waiting for them? If they read one, they might even learn a thing or two about doing the right thing.
Amazon has used copies for under $2. With shipping, I was able to send a copy of the book to the Ocean County Freeholders for under $5.
Address on the flip:
Ocean County Freeholders
P.O. Box 2191
101 Hooper Ave.

If you have a used copy, send it along. If not, take a moment to order the book right now and have it shipped directly to the Freeholders. There are 311 used copies at the moment - can we send them all?
