Most Americans believe the war has aready cost too much. I think this might be a good campaign issue for Dean. Why should America pour another $40bn down this rat hole?

Reuters reports that the Bush Administration wants to give Defense what it wants -- more money. But, in deference to the American voters, Bush will wait until after the election to announce that American taxpayers will be sending an additional $40,000,000,000 to Iraq for a grand total of $160,000,000,000. ...
So: five hundred American lives, unknown thousands of Iraqi lives and $160,000,000,000.
All of this and, as Warblogging wrote last week, Department of Defense civilians like Paul Wolfowitz want to engage in open hostilities with Syria.
