Obviously the might of the blog community is beginning to register, not just in the regional races, but inside the beltway. Congressional Quarterly had the following to say in today's CQ Update:
"CQ POLITICS DAILY reports that freshman Georgia Republican Rep. Max Burns,
perhaps the top House incumbent target for national Democratic
strategists, has piled up cash for his re-election campaign. So two
Democrats competing to challenge Burns in the Democratic-leaning 12th
District have turned to Internet advertising to help raise funds. Both
Athens-Clarke County Commissioner John Barrow and former state Sen. Doug
Haines recently purchased ads on liberal-leaning Internet "blogs" such as
talkingpointsmemo.com and dailykos.com. Barrow and Haines say they were
inspired by newly seated Democratic Rep. Ben Chandler, who won a Feb. 17
special election in Kentucky's 6th District. Chandler's campaign reports
that a $2,000 investment in blog advertising yielded about $80,000 in
campaign contributions made online over several weeks."
While they don't come out and say it, the inference was that we were a decisive factor. Let's keep up the good work, people!
