The other day this paper called for the removal of Tom DeLay, one of the first to do so.
Ledger calls for DeLay to be removed
Today they rip Martinez into shreds. Some days all seems good in the heart of Florida.
Sideshow Mel, U.S. Senator
Sideshow Mel, U.S. Senator
"In the fewer than 100 days that Mel Martinez has been in office, he's made quite a name for himself. Too bad Florida's freshman senator is apparently looked upon as a sideshow attraction to be viewed with pity, wonder, fear or amazement."
"In just over three months, Martinez has turned his office-holding abilities into a candidate for a political version of America's Funniest Home Videos."
"Why did Martinez tell The Washington Post in late March that his office had nothing to do with the memo? He told The Post last week: "I never did an investigation, as such. I just took it for granted that we wouldn't be that stupid."
Oh? Martinez evidently has not benefited from the experience of what giant acts of "Doh!" his helpers can create. Time to review":
The editorial then proceeds to refer to many more of his antics, such as calling Bill McCollum "anti-family" and accusing him of pandering to the "radical homosexual lobby."
They further mentioned he lied about his vote for drilling in ANWR. Bill Nelson had already gotten the moratium until 2012 for drilling off Florida's coasts. And more are mentioned.
They sum it up beautifully:
"So we come full circle back to the Schiavo memo. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., has asked for a Senate investigation and said he will ask for "a look at the rules for Senate conduct and see if there doesn't need to be a specific regulation written that says that under no conditions can anything like this occur."
Best get it done soon. Martinez's term still has about 2,000 more days to go....."
Thanks again to a pretty darn good paper in the heart of a very conservative county.
