While all the shooting and shouting is going on elsewhere, things are happening on the Senior Geezer front.
As widely reported, Dr Mark McClellan was confirmed as CMS Administrator, but not before Sen Frist was forced into allowing a vote on drug importation.
I believe this shows it is possible to undermine the Bush Administration, quite apart from noisy elections and candidates,
The popular revulsion of Bush's MEDICARE "REFORM" has even made AARP run ads on cable demanding drug importation and Federal price negotiation authority. (I think AARP discovered it made a major mistake in selling out Seniors.)
While it appears the Senate will pass bills on these two matters, the House will be more difficult. Speaker Hastert and Rep Delay control the rules, and will only be dislodged from the passgate by Republican traitors. Fortunately, there are many Republicans who won't fight Seniors. There are others whose election may be at risk if they oppose importation and negotiations.
Sen Daschle has called for a "re-vote" on the MEDICARE "REFORM" bill, since the Bush Administration OMB falsely subscribed the cost of the measure and the House was manipulated into voting for the bill. This does not sit well with many House Republicans.
I have been busy trying to organize people in my area to fight on MEDICARE issues. This is an opportune time to make some progress for Seniors, and in doing so attack all of the important issues of this election.
I do ask Kossacks to pay greater attention to this urgent issue - especially since it is one that can be fought and won. (And, you will have to live with the results.)
