Where? In Bush Country, Dallas, Texas, where else?
Why? The DA's office is strapped.
You don't suppose that this has anything to do with the drastic cuts in federal monies available to local governments in the last several years, now do you?
From USA Today:
When domestic violence jumped in Dallas County, District Attorney Bill Hill did something unusual. Faced with a tight budget, he asked a local business to contribute money so he could hire more staff.
That resulted in a $200,000 donation from the cosmetic giant Mary Kay, to help pay for a new investigator and a caseworker to work on violent crimes against women.

I do have to admire their cunning, using no doubt tax-deductible corporate donations to fund prosecutions for "violent crimes committed against women," a cause they no doubt hope that even those who might otherwise be opposed to this travesty will support.
That's how they do it, get a foot in the door claiming that it's for a "good cause" first, and you can bet your sweet that corporate funding of prosecutor's offices for non-specific purposes aren't too far off.
How long until Enron, et. al., are funding the very prosecutors whose job it is to prosecute them should they stray from the right side of the law?
Justice for sale? Can you spell "Great Big Fucking Conflict Of Interest?" How about "Bribe?"
And anybody who really believes that this won't influence the DA's office, should Mary Kay or one of its executives be charged with a criminal act, has his or her head ever so firmly implanted far up his or her ass.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
