I can't find the link for it but yesterday (friday) there was an Op-ed piece in the Washington Post about military benefits and how bad they are. I have never understood why Democrats do not harp on this issue constantly. Democrats are always been attacked for being weak on defense, during the campaign Bush and his surrogates attacked Kerry for all of the weapons programs Kerry supposedly wanted to cut. Why don't we ever talk about the White House wanting to cut combat pay? Or soldiers who make so little that they have to live off food stamps? Why don't Democrats seize on this issue, put forth a bill demanding higher pay for soldiers and more benefits for military families? How could we lose? Why don't Democrats become the champions of military families. I think this should be something that is discussed, particualarly in this time of war. love to hear your thoughts
