Sure, Bush seems like toast, but...
He has put out his feelers for legal counsel because of the Plame affair, so Criswell-like, I envision the following scenario:
- Bush is indicted
- The GOP's deseperate attempts at spin (and
burying decades of Rebublican CW that says
that only guilty people are charged with
crimes) are thwarted when Bush is called
to testify and and takes the fifth
- Obviously, Bush is finished. He may even
resign. But it's equally clear that even
the Repblicans don't beleive that anyone
would actually vote their ticket with
Mr. No-Bid in the top spot, so...
- With the Bush name besmirched (thus
foreclosing the likes of Jeb from getting
the nod), the convention picks...
- John McCain, who, running with Chuck Hegel
as his number two, easily beats his good
friend John Kerry in November
Whadya think? Of course Criswell was wrong about those grave robbers from outer space...
