Mr. Sullivan
has mentioned a "New Iraqi Blogger".
Here is the blog in question: The Mesopotamian[sic]
Is This Really an Iraqi at all? Is Sullivan easily duped by wishful thinking?
This new blogger reminds me of
riversbend.blogspot.com, a known fraud, a play on the evidently genuine http://riverbendblog.blogspot.com/.
We have "Dear Raed" which has been proven true by various means which you can investigate yourself (Salam has made contact with the Western Press... the seminal moment was when he was the interpreter for a reporter who realized Salam had been his interpreter only after returning home). His subsequent employment by The Guardian is also an indication at least in their faith in him. Healing Iraq may or may not be legitimate, but it seems to be, and is at least believable (he defends the reality of his Iraqi existence at his blog).
I've been reading Salam since before the war, when it was not clear if he was legit. It was a phenomenal thing, reading the words of an Iraqi before and even during the war. Amazing, and not just neat, but world-changing. It seems the smoke and mirrors have moved in now after the war and after Salam's success.
