Today has been really hard for those of us in Houston. Everywhere you turn, there are refugees in need of love and compassion. There is such a schizophrenic dichotomy in Houston right now; on the one hand, many people are opening their homes and wallets for total strangers. Yet, incredulously, there are actually people here who love Bush and think Nagin should be shot. It doesn't take a genius to figure out which group is out there right now taking care of the hurting and which group is on talk radio b****ing about $3/gallon gas and all the blacks (oh, wait, I mean "those people") who are coming to town and camping out in parks, vacant lots, etc. I am SO ashamed to be white right now.
I also want to point everyone to a really good article:

Also, my roommate and I were able to help a couple of people down at the Dome last night. So at least I could do SOMETHING.
PS- I am very new at this whole blogging thing, so please cut me a little slack if I screwed up by doing a link or anything like that.
