so dabize's recent diary entry:

and this NYT article:

got me to thinking (a dangerous passtime, I know)
Why don't we shut down the GOP convention in NYC?!?
So as much as I'm sure it'll get me even more on Bush, Ashcroft and Company's Enemies List, I think we should try to do this.
This makes WTO and such look like small potatoes...
Why have I read nothing anywhere yet about staging protests at the GOP convention in NYC? I mean, I know all about "protest zones" and the like, but NYC is such a lefty city - what if every single person in the City, and a bunch of visitors, just took to the streets and marched on the convention center? Could you really stop that many people? I mean, and not look like oppressive thugs?
Think of it - it's acceptance speech night, and Bush can't get there because the streets are literally full to capacity of people holding "Bush Lied - Thousands Died" signs. People are holding up images of the flag draped coffins coming home from Iraq (which they won't show us on tv). Network convention covereage is saturated with images of the throngs outside, tens or hundreds of thousands of "normal American folks", who are participating in the biggest mass protest/ civil disobedience in the history of the country...
Have I finally gone 'round the bend, or is this a moral imperative?
