I responded to teacherken's
diary entry below with the following comment:
I Do Swear an Oath to the Democratic Party (none / 1)
Completely disagree with you about everything.
Sorry, but I am intensely loyal to this endeavor and will be as long as our Constitution is enslaved by the evil power of the current clique in office.
The Democratic Party is the only effective option for political opposition right now and I embrace it fully.
I will not hold the Democratic Party hostage to any lesser issue until this Congress is removed from power and this administration and its heirs are repudiated by the voters.
That is the final word, as far as I am concerned.

I love just about everything that teacherken has to say, typically, but I must part with him here.
As long as George Bush or his political heirs are in office and as long as the Congress is controlled by the current group of Republicans, one political interest trumps every other one that I might have:
Getting rid of them.
Rarely have we ever seen a more corrupt, a more debased, a more degenerate or a more dangerous cabal of people at the head of our three branches of government. Scalia, Roberts and Thomas have lifetime appointments. There is little that can be done as regards the composition of the Supreme Court. But the other two branches are ours for the taking.
They are ours for the taking if we are committed. They are ours for the taking if we are disciplined. They are ours for the taking if we do not allow ourselves to descend into single-issue and special-interest squabbling.
Democrats and the Democratic Party have one unifying article of faith at this moment in time:
Get rid of Bush.
Get rid of the fake wars, the fake news, the fake fundraising. Get rid of the spying. Get rid of the corruption. Get rid of the lies. Get rid of the liars.
The 2006 and 2008 elections won't be about the environment. They won't be about the economy. They won't be about labor rights. They won't be about abortion.
They will be about throwing the bums out.
Our teacherken wrote:
If a Democratic nominee considers a position of doing away with all teacher tenure, that Democratic candidate runs the risk that I will not vote for him.
Well, fine and dandy.
Queue up another eight years of Jeb! Bush, Tom Delay, Bill Frist, and Rick Santorum.
Because we have to be just a whole Hell of a lot more dedicated than that.
