So I was watching
the President's latest speechifying today, and the transcript is finally up. One passage in particular struck me, and I'd like to explore the reasoning therein:
And as far as this administration is concerned, we clearly see the problem and we’re going to continue to work to advance stable, free countries. We don’t expect every country to look like the United States, but we do want countries to accept some basic conditions for a vibrant society—human rights, human decency, the power of the people to determine the fate of their governments. And, admittedly, this is hard work because it flies in the face of previous policy, which basically says stability is more important than form of government. And as a result of that policy, anger and resentment bubbled forth with an attack, with a series of attacks, the most dramatic of which was on September the 11th.
That's right, folks, if something isn't done about these rogue nations--and
quick--we're going to have another 9/11! We're so fortunate that President Bush abandoned our earlier policy of 'stability'. Obviously that long-term stability was the cause of our present instability, and the only solution is 'short-term' instability to promote long-term stability--yes, it makes perfect sense now!
Like a surgeon, we must cut out the cancer that infects the body politic before it can spread--starting with Iran and Syria, and moving on to North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia... the sky's the limit, really. Once we convert them all to democracy at the barrel of a gun, we'll have no more worries, because democracies don't attack each other, just like Israel and Lebanon aren't doing right now!
But if we keep ignoring the problem, then it will fester and explode into more 9/11 type-incidents--or worse! And that's why we must get on the ball and support our President, so we can invade China before it's too late!
