Ideas from an "ordinary Dem" in the heart of the country!
I think it's time to break open with a definitive plan and start spelling a preliminary platform for '08 (definitely '06) now! It's got to catch with "ordinary" people again in my opinion. What used to be the entire base of the Democratic party. Where did you go?
I am from Illinois and just a common working Mom whose adult daughter cannot afford health insurance. Guess what? My husband and I cannot afford it for her either. She's educated, gets up and goes to work every day and a healthy 22 yr. old's (at that time) coverage went up to $457 a month through Blue Cross Blue Shield. She had to drop it a year ago. We make a decent income and have trouble keeping up for ourselves. This is "Middle America" where we live, heart of the country.
These values are what Democrats should worry about:
- Healthcare
- Jobs and Economy
- Illegal Immigration, Border Security--what is this party so worried about on this? This is a huge problem, this is what is costing our kids and us our healthcare.
'Back on Track' is an easy campaign slogan for Dems in '08 or '06.
Okay, I am ready for open criticism now on my viewpoints. Have at it.
