In a previous
diary I mentioned an initiative by Seattle Mayor
Greg Nickels to implement the standards of the Kyoto Protocol. It appears that numerous cities across the US have
responded to his challenge,
131 cities as of yet. This has been an awesome show of support for committing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Mayor Nickels will continue to push this at next month's
conference of mayors in Chicago.
Here is a list of mayors currently supporting the initiative. Thanks to all who have been willing to take small, local steps to fight the unwillingness of the administration to address this issue. Contact your mayor if you'd like to see Kyoto recognized in your city or town.
