While the malfeasance leading us to war is taking center stage again it is important not to forget about the other disasters the worst president ever has presided over. In this case I am talking about hurricane Katrina.
The USA Today front page headline: La. toll rises as evacuees find dead in return to homes
More than a month after the official search for victims of Hurricane Katrina ended, the death toll in Louisiana has jumped by 104 as returning families in the New Orleans area continue to find bodies.
And where are they finding these bodies? You guessed it:
Many of the newly discovered victims are elderly people who sought refuge in attics and upper floors from the rising waters throughout New Orleans' devastated 9th Ward, said Frank Minyard, the coroner in greater New Orleans.
Sshhh...don't tell anybody who lived in the 9th Ward.
As tvb pointed out over the weekend, they are adding more insult by not speedily identifying the dead and giving the families a chance to come to grips with losing their loved ones...the reason? They are arguing over who's going to pay for DNA testing.
In the 2½ months since the hurricane, Louisiana officials have not performed any DNA tests on at least 321 bodies that remain unidentified,
<snip>
DNA testing has been stalled while state officials and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) wrangle over how much private labs contracted to do the tests should be paid.
Pathetic.
