Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour's instinctive reaction to the Katrina catastrophe was anger, not about the Republican federal government that let down Mississippi but about looting.
Now comes word there is widespread looting by police officers. Police officers are "on their own" for food and water, and are stealing these from abandoned storefronts. They are also "on their own" for gasoline, and are stealing gas from abandoned vehicles.
So, the question begs:
Will Governor Barbour have them shot?
Republicans like Barbour never miss a chance to appeal to their most important political base: white Southern racists. The Bush Administration let those Black people die, and they are using racism to try to cover their tracks by distracting everyone.
