looking at the diaries, this
post of markos' y'all keep pointing at is being asked to carry a pretty heavy weight of dogma. so perhaps someone needs to point to a bit more of it. he also says the following:
Liberal? Yeah, we're around here and we're proud. But it's not a liberal blog. It's a Democratic blog with one goal in mind: electoral victory.
And since we haven't gotten any of that from the current crew, we're one more thing: a reform blog.
The battle for the party is not an ideological battle. It's one between establishment and anti-establishment factions. And as I've said a million times, the status quo is untenable.
look, today was a pretty good day, all things considered. we challenged the ohio electors, and hammered abu gonzales on supporting torture. it's a good start for dems starting to have a spine...
you could tell the GOP was getting worried - because the more they lie, the bigger the lies, the more they scream "conspiracy theory" and tell us we're only hurting ourselves, that's what they do when we're on target. they even had
tom delay close the house session. delay never speaks, but today they had him on to tell the biggest whoppers of them all.
so it's a good start. baby steps, man, baby steps. but we're going to need some more soon. we need to see votes. because when all was said and done, after two hours of good speeches, only boxer voted for the objection. and all the minority minority members in the house. that's not so hot. look, i'll give obama a pass because it's his first week on the job. and the purple-staters. but what about all the deep blue senators? like schumer's gonna be in trouble for that vote? dodd? leahy - probably his last term? frickin' ted kennedy? we still got some work to do, people. am i going to whine about it? well, maybe a little. but tomorrow i'm writing those guys and asking them why they didn't take my request from yesterday seriously. then there's the gonzales vote. that vote is way, way more serious, regardless of the expected outcome.
now if anyone wants to complain about john forbin' kerry not being there to object to the EC, let me kick talk some sense into you. being out of town was absolutely the right thing to do, and if have to explain that to you, maybe you shouldn't be posting around here. you know where he was? he was in friggin' iraq dude. top that. trying to straighten out the clusterfunk over there, just a bit. meeting with arab leaders and stuff. that's world-class, that's statesmanlike, and i'm even more impressed by that than when i was campaigning for him.
but remember - we're reform democrats. that's why i'm supporting democrats who are going to take the fight to the enemy. nobody else will get my time, my money or my heart from here on. hell yeah we're taking back the party. and all those vichy democrats need to change their ways now. they need to kick the K-street habit. they need to demonstrate solidarity with the party. and they should start making plans for their post-congressional careers now, so we can get real democrats in their seats.
because we're the reform democrats, and we're on the march.
